Wednesday means Killarney and although the morning looked promising the weather came in thick and fast…it rained all day at work and looked dreary and doubtful for racing to be on.

A quick call to the track, and they say it’s been dry since two. Awesome… it rains hard all the way there, the further I drive the worse it looks…all the way past the track and it’s still raining!

As I pull up a few peeps are standing and watching a car go round, it wet…but the sun’s trying it’s best.

Halo
Halo

Six o’clock rolls round and it’s game on. There are very few guys out, maybe fifteen and a handful of girls… we cruise around the first lap to check out the conditions, there’s enough grip for my liking and the pace picks up by lap two. Four laps later Ray gets into a break along with one MTN and One Daiken rider, that nullifies me from working and also takes out the two Daiken guys remaining leaving only Wayne Botha and Matt Evans to chase. The chasing is quite disrupted with us slowing things down a lot and Ray’s bunch gets some clear air. By the time we decide to chase even with Alex and I chipping in we cant bring it back and we can see then winding up for the sprint as we get to the last bend, It’s points all the way and Alex takes fouth and I’m seventh. Ray is beaten by a hair into second place. Ray’s incognito outfit does the Euro pro proud!

It turns out we were the lucky few who got in some good riding and it was a lot of fun.
